If it does this then you can see marks on the insulation and it pulls oil from the breather into the intake system.Check the battery cables, make sure they're clean and tight. Also check the battery cable connection to the fuse box / TIPM. Sometimes problems with the engine bay grounds cause headlights to go out, but they tend more to go out and stay out rather than flicker on and off.
