Vernon R. Stuart passed away in rural Vandalia at 3:35 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2005. Vernon, better known in the community as "Grandpa" had been a rural Vandalia area resident all his adult life. He had worked for a short time at the Walsh Refractories near Farber and then went into the U. S. Army during World War II.
