So i recently got my hands on my grandfathers old sportsman 48 in 16 Gauge. I love the gun and have been doing a good bit of shooting with it. A few weeks ago it gave me a problem and i finally figured out that it was the Friction piece it has been warped. After ordering a new one i took it to the range and it works fine.There was also a three shot version of the Model 11 called a Sportsman. It would have a square backed receiver. The 48 Sportsman would have a rounded off receiver, much like an 1100 or 870. A Sportsman 58 would be much the same, but gas operated. The thing about the Sportsman 48 compared to my Auto-5 is that the Remington buttstock end is dimensionally smaller than the Browning (both are 12 ga.).
