People need cars to drive off of the peninsula, so the argument that you would take more golf carts makes no sense. Cars have minimum safety standards, roads were built for cars, and everything is built around the car. Golf carts are great for golf courses or places where cars are banned. They are terrible for downtown mixing into normal traffic.
