During the event, the helicopter will draw in a ton of zombies, thousands if you are unlucky. So, your best hope of surviving the helicopter event is to hide and wait it out or stay on the run.

The single best result you can get from the event is using it to draw the zombies into the countryside and away from a town you’d like to loot. What does the helicopter event mean? A helicopter will fly around for a few hours, drawing zombies towards wherever it flies. If it spots you it will follow you around for the entire duration, drawing hordes towards you. It cant spot you if you stay inside though, so go inside as soon as you hear the helicopter.
