NGS is a more modern open world exploration while Base is played in randomly generated instances. Base has a complete and much more fulfilling storyline than NGS. NGS has a much simpler, more streamlined weapon and armor upgrading system. Keep in mind that Base equipment does not carry over to NGS, and vice versa.
