There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. That does not mean that with some combinations it could not be used with 7/8 or even 1-1/8 ounce loadings. In the Federal hull with 1 ounce payloads, Remington's SP20 or RXP20 may do as well as the Winchester wad.

It really depends on what powder you're using, and consequently the volume, if you're using Unique, you're in trouble, if you're using WSF you have more options. The STS 20 is probably the most difficult hull to find a suitable alternative for, unless you're using a very dense powder.
Rem hull, ched209, 17gr longshot, sp20, 7/8oz bismuth 4, 1250fps patterned better and is what I shot at the end of last year. There is longshot load in lymans for what you want, but again with sp20 wad.. federal hull, 209A, 20gr longshot, sp20, 1oz bismuth 1300fps 11,000 psi. There is also a blue dot recipe with the csd20/tuwsbl2024..While I'm not a connoisseur of 1 oz. loads in the 20 ga., for those that just have to load such loads, the Remington SP 20 is the only decent wad left for these loads. The biggest problem is finding a wad that'll work. The only real readily available one ounce wad is the Rem SP20, which is highly priced and overly fragile (wad explodes into fragments when firing). It was my favorite 1-1/4oz powder for my duck and goose loads when you could use lead shot. In the 20ga I use it for both 7/8oz and 1oz loads. In the AACF I use 16.5gr for both the 7/8 and 1oz loads and in the Rem STS hulls I use 17.5gr for both loads. In the 7/8oz loads I use the Rem RXP 20 wad and in the 1oz loads I use the Rem SP20 wad.

I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot.
