I keep on getting dirt that jams up the float and causes it to over flow. 2017 Honda Foreman, foot shift, manual steering.

Honda has replaced the original filter with an upgraded one. The old filter was on the bottom of the fuel pump, while the new one is in the vertical position on the side of the pump. You replace the plastic housing that ...picked one up from Honda...was a whole $9....not a big deal...and another $30 for 4 litres of Honda oil. Fuel pump not priming. Hi everyone. I'm having an issue on my 07 honda rancher trx420fm. When I turn the key on the fuel pump does not prime. I've replaced the fuel pump and the relay (twice). I bypassed the relay and the pump will run but still not start. Has new battery showing 12v. I think these might run more on the blackish mark, but if it's a real dark black it would indicate it is running rich which could explain the back fire. I removed and cleaned the gas tank, cleaned the fuel pump and changed the fuel filter. The filter and pump housing was filthy.

645 posts · Joined 2011. #2 · Oct 8, 2012. the best way IMO is to take the tank off and pull the petcock off and flush it with a garden hose untill you flushed all the sand out and blow it out with compressed air untill dry (its a plastic fuel tank ). then clean the screen on the petcock and put it back together.
