Sep 1, 2020. #2. You don’t have to do rope. I do the buckle-less method and use the webbing strap that comes on it. I had a set of rope modded Helium’s and I like the webbing better. It rolls up around the stick a lot flatter and if you bought the stick you already have the stuff to do it, no need to buy anything else.

I decided to make a UCR mod (Utility Constrictor Rope). So I had some 7/64” black Amsteel and a bunch of Endura Dyneema rope in same size but in blue. This little rig holds up nicely!

Aug 13, 2021 · Hawk Helium Climbing Stick (or other stick with “versa button” 1/4″ Amsteel #13 Knitting Needle #10 Knitting Needle; Step 1: Make an Amsteel Splicing Tool. Using a band saw or hacksaw, cut off the size 13 knitting needle at a 45deg angle to create a splicing tool. This isn’t mandatory, but it sure does simplify the process.
I've got a set of the large helium sticks. I've done a couple mods on them, added silencer strips to the backs and Amsteel daisy chains to replace the cam straps but that's it so far. My issue is that I keep getting a loud squeaking noise that seems to be coming from the versa button when I've got my weight on them.
