The town I grew up in just one in the last 50. Beyond superficial differences I bet they have a lot more in common with Dryden than St. Louis. Random acts, like the Harris family, always happen of course, but random murders aren't nearly as common as ones where perpetrator and victim know each other and other social issues come to bear.
