IMO, The 10mm is an all around more interesting and more useful cartridge. It offers dangerous game bullets, bullet weights up to 220-230 grain weight, and down to 100gr. 10mm is used by some Alaska LE and professional guides (Griz, Kodiak, Polar bears), and Denmark's Sirius Sledge Patrol uses 10mm as backup to their rifles for polar bear defense.

A 10mm hardcast out of 5"+ barrel is adequate stopping power for a black bear. I've dropped two with 10mm. I don't shoot a ton with a revolver but I personally would feel more confident with follow up shots with an autoloader.
