407 posts · Joined 2007. #24 · Dec 27, 2018. My new MEC 600 also has a little trouble dropping the shot. It happens when I pull the handle all the way down and then slide the bar to drop the shot. About half the shot will hang up in the tube when I go back up with the handle.

Agree that those do not look like mec dies, could have been to make it load 3 1/2 . I have modified my 16 to load 2 9/16 , not rocket science. The 600 will crimp a first reloaded hull so that it looks factory, once adjusted correctly. The Spindex is designed and produced by Mec. I can't conceive of anyone that had the newer design wishing to go back to the old. The cloth acts as a cushion making it easy to grab a primer. Complete a shell, grab a primer, drop it in, grab a hull and take off. The Mec 600 is a very simple machine, I'd keep it that way.

At station 4 the crimp starter is updated and the new one works pretty well, but then so did the old one. The final crimp station is also updated but again, not significantly better than the old version. About the only thing on the new versin 600 Jr. that is nice is the pre crimper, as it changes out from 6 to 8 in only a couple seconds.Hard to remember, but I think one issue is the ejector bolt is different on the deprime die, and the way the die mounts to the frame. Mec offers a replacement - revamped system. At a nominal cost that looks more robust than the old wad guide.
