the distributor in the picture depicts an HEI is the only difference. You can just pretend 2 of the screws aren't there for the stock point distributor. It actually does not matter which contact on the cap you use as #1 providing the distributor is set in with the rotor coinciding with that particular contact and the #1 piston is at TDC.350 Rocket Timing/Ignition Problem. I checked the alternator and the internal voltage regulator had gone bad. Alternator was only about two months old.The firing order is: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. With the distributor already in the engine, remove the distributor cap, rotate the engine to TDC w/cylinder #1 on compression stroke. It really makes no difference which terminal is #1, as long as it is followed by #8, then #7, etc. Start by setting the #1 cylinder at TDC in the firing position, then establish which terminal is going to be #1 by installing the distributor.
