My best trades in kvk1 and 2 were ysg primary with Sun, it trades a lot better than you'd expect. Prob el cid based on what you have. I had really good results in kvk3 with thut/ysg but never ran thut before 5511. Use Cid/YSG until your Thut is 5511, then you use Thut/YSG.
The #1 reason to bring Aethelflaed is her skill. Her secondary skill is nice, and basically has an up time of 3s for every 10 - this isn't something I'm relying on to pursue / escape opponents with.
