I put some fresh oil on the o-ring then put it in the hose in the correct spot. Then, I put the plastic washer below the o-ring in the hose. Seems every 40,000 miles or so the PCV valve blows out. It's easy to change them and they are cheap to buy online now($35 shipped). Takes maybe an hour tops to swap.
