Both bows are both setup at Peak Weight at 65lbs at 28 inch draw and both have string loops, string silencers, G5 peeps. Maxxis hold weight is 16lbs; Z7 hold weight is 13 lbs. The IBO's are 323 for the Maxxis and 332 for the Z7.Mathews have always been a little lighter but top heavy and the Z7 was no exception, but better than bows of the past. Hoyt always seems to have a better balance and general feel and they finally got the weight down. Both bows were set up vitually the same, maxed at 60 lbs and 28" draw.

I went in to the local dealer and ran threw all the top bows from 6 of the top bows companies and at the end I had two bows to pick from the Phase 4 one in the 29 and one in the 33.The VTM34 draws slightly smoother, and the Hoyt has a better factory grip IMO. If you have been a Hoyt guy for a long time you will transition into the VTM easier. I do like the low riser stab mount option on the Hoyts. Both companies make outstanding accessories, although Mathews pricing is stupid. The Hoyt Bourbon is bow color of the year imo.
