NATCHEZ, Miss. ( WJTV) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that happened at one of the oldest historic houses in Natchez. The Natchez Democrat reported the fire at Hope Farm happened on Friday, March 24. Natchez Fire Chief Robert Arrington said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Ethel is the daughter of Zilpha A. Marling and Edwin Kempton Steadman. She married (1) George Cyrus Arnold, Sr. on 8 April 1899, Worcester, Massachusetts. She married (2) Harry Gardner Appleton on 7 April 1906, in Boston, Massachusetts. She married (3) Russell Vincent Banta in about 1919, in New Jersey. Hope Farm is located at the corner of Homochitto and Duncan Avenue in Natchez.
