Just to to backtrack to the last place you know you were riding it. If you break bond, the follower will be deleted forever. Don't break the bond, it will disappear entirely!

The horses will only be in k5 though, southwest shore of that island starting from the kappa nest near the smaller island with the bean lake, then going towards the south staying on the island. But I just found this post. I figured out that when you use the zoom tool on the map (PS5) it gets rid of all of the white icons on the map except for the Track Follower tag.
