I bought a used 2003 F150 and it did not come with the spare tire key. Big surprise huh! Well what I found worked very well was to use a 14mm 12 point socket and a lot of extensions. With a little push, the socket fits snuggly around the outside of the lock mechanism and you can lower the spare tire.
